J.R. Tucker didn’t end the season too well, as Patrick Henry surprised the 10th-ranked Tigers 4-2 in boys soccer.
Luckily for the Tigers, they got another shot at the Patriots in the Colonial District tournament’s first round, beating PH 5-1 at Deep Run Monday afternoon.
Two goals apiece came from the high-scoring Karl Roland and Marcel Almeida.
Roland’s second goal, Tucker’s third, was a good as it gets.
Ian Major lofted a free kick and Roland used his powerful body to out muscle the Patriots.
Roland’s goal registered a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
“Me and Karl have just been linking up all season,” Major said. “I just really feel comfortable playing with him. He knows exactly what I’m going to do, and I know where he’s going to be.”
The Patriots, who received numerous yellow cards and two red cards in the contest, made things interesting on freshman Sean Mullican‘s goal.
It picked up PH’s offensive intensity tremendously.
But Tucker weathered the storm as Almeida scored on a bloop shot and Calebe Braga ended the scoring in the 78th minute.
