Emma Mitchell, 4/6/10

Emma Mitchell, Patrick Henry

Year: Sophomore   Age: 15

Height: 5-6   Position: Pitcher/Outfielder

Performance: Went 4-0 to start the season, including 12 K’s against Mills Godwin, 10 K’s versus Freeman and 13 K’s on Atlee, all shutouts.

On quick start: “It’s really nice. The team is doing great. I’m really excited about the season.”

On coach Matt Crowder: “He’s just got his 100th win at Patrick Henry. He’s doing pretty well.”

Best trait: “I would say probably ball movement.”

Goal this year: “Just to do the best I could do and come out and hopefully get a chance to pitch and do well.”

If she could meet one person:Cat Osterman.”

Toughest opponent: “I don’t really have a toughest opponent. I don’t think any opponents are easy.”

On pitching approach: “I don’t have a different mindset. My main objective is just to trick the batter in anything that I do.”

On college: “I hope to pursue it in college. My main goal is to go to a good school for grades. If I could play in college I would absolutely love to do that.”

Rita Gilman: A slew of talented softball pitchers train with former Patrick Henry star Rita Gilman. “A lot of the girls work with her. She has a lot of out-of-state students, too. I’ve been working with her since I was 9 or 10 years old.”

Did you know?: Mitchell went 8-0 on the JV circuit last year with four no-hitters.
